Levitra is produced to treat erectile dysfunction and it is PDE-5inhibitor. Erection of the penis is a process based on the relaxation of smooth muscles of cavernous bodies, which are located in arterioles. During sexual arousal the release of nitric oxide(NO) occurs in the nerve endings of the cavernous bodies. This activates the enzyme guanylate cyclase, which causes the increase of the contents of cyclic guanosine monophosphate(cGMP) in the cavernous bodies. That leads to relaxation of smooth muscles of the penis and that increases blood flow to the penis.
Indications for use:
The drug is only used to treat erectile dysfunction, that is also called impotence. The drug will not be effective without sexual arousal.
